Job Description

The Injection Mold Technician is responsible for set up and breaking down of molds and raw materials for molded parts, assurance of the quality of parts being molded, tryouts of new and modified molds, molding machine report and maintenance, regrinding of sprues and runners and scrapping of contaminated parts/materials.  This position works under minimal supervision.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for set-up/start-up of Injection Molding Equipment
  2. Perform daily molding machine maintenance and molding machine repair as required
  3. Performs insert changes and modification and adjustment of injection molding parameters
  4. Testing and evaluating new and modified molds. This includes giving inputs to improve the mold’s performance and ability to produce quality parts
  5. Monitoring tooling condition and notifying tooling when mold is unable to produce quality parts or preventative maintenance is required
  6. Operates material movement equipment in a safe and efficient manner to prevent injury to self, others and other equipment
  7. Reprocessing sprues and runners into regrind to be blended back into the process per quality system requirements
  8. Clean auxiliary equipment that supports Injection Mold process
  9. Scrapping contaminated materials per accounting and quality system requirements
  10. Set-up and use of sonic welding equipment and fixtures
  11. Participates in in-process inspection of injection molded components which includes visual inspection and/or dimensional measurement for conformance to requirements defined on drawings, Standard Inspection Plans, Visual Factory or other documents
  12. Follow all processes, policies and procedures to account for materials, finished goods and quality system requirements
  13. Comply with all safety procedures and policies established
  14. Responsible for shut down, lock out of equipment, and inform supervisor if safety device is found defective

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to use judgment related to identifying and segregating non-conforming materials and components
  • Ability to use judgment related to identifying potential safety hazards
  • Ability to use a PC to view and follow visual factory instruction and to perform inventory transactions
  • Must possess an understanding of basic math skills:  adding, subtracting and measuring
  • Ability to drive a fork lift
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule format
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written format
  • Ability to work effectively in a team oriented environment

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in plastics injection molding processes
  • Oracle experience preferred

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
  • Must be able to work near moving mechanical machinery
  • Must be able to work in an environment with a high noise level with provided hearing protection

Shift

2nd shift injection molding: 5:00 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. Monday-Wednesday, Bi-weekly Thursday
