Job Description

Position Overview

Responsible for managing day-to-day quotations in support of the outside sales team. Position requires a solid lighting industry background and in-depth knowledge of the lighting quotation and bid process. Must be capable of working with minimum supervision and act in a quarterback role to the Outside Sales Team. Provide technical services and be the primary contact for answering basic and complex technical customer questions and recommending solutions relative to Birchwood products.

Essential Functions

  1. Work with key Manufacturer Representatives in the process of generating bid packages and securing orders for both specified and discretionary job business
  2. Handle bid-package workload in an expeditious manner so as to meet required bid-date deadlines
  3. Knowledge and relationships with key agencies so as to negotiate / structure joint bid-packages as necessary 
  4. Administer and organize office systems commensurate with Leviton customer service standards
  5. Maintain good working relations with customer service departments

  6. Work with sales team on new job opportunities

  7. Generate weekly report of bid and order activity for follow-up quotations

Local Essential Functions:

  • Support Outside Sales and National Accounts by doing crossovers, lay-outs and take-offs

  • Review and analyze plans, specifications, and bills of material for preparing quotations for commercial projects

  • Negotiate projects with inside and independent sales reps

  • Respond to all technical inquiries on Birchwood product lines via all media channels:  e.g., telephone, email, chat, and / or web, as directed by management

  • Communicates problems and needs of the customer / caller to other functions within the organization, e.g. marketing, sales, product managers, engineers, quality assurance, etc.

  • Ensures the timely response to pre and post-sale caller questions of a technical nature; these questions may come from; field sales, customer service, distributors, home owners, contractors, specifier, architects, etc.

  • Manage cross reference requests

  • Help specify Birchwood products, inclusive of answering questions concerning installation or use, according to individual customer needs

  • Aid customer service by supporting customer technical caller requirements

  • Supports divisional and cross-functional special projects as directed by management

Education

  • College Degree

Skills

  • Computer literate, intermediate / advanced level with Microsoft Suite: Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Professional communication skills both oral and written

  • Able to assimilate and maintain a sound technical and product knowledge of LMS systems

    Travel

  • Some visits to customer’s offices may be required
