Job Description

This position is responsible for assisting the Engineering team in product development, performing technical product evaluation to validate, determine root cause and recommend effective corrective action.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Perform technical evaluation on new / and or revised, manufactured, transferred or purchased finished products prior to production release
  2. Provide support for product development through testing and analysis of electronic and electromechanical devices in accordance with Leviton requirements. Includes UL, CSA, IEC and government standards, as necessary
  3. Generate reports summarizing test results and trend analysis of data and provide recommendation to new and sustaining products
  4. Formulate viable written and verbal corrective action responses 
  5. Selection and keep inventory of equipment, tools and supplies for workspace
  6. Construction of specialized test fixtures and equipment for various tests and requirement’s
  7. Assist and/or perform any specialized testing as assigned
  8. Evaluate complaints in order to validate and determine root cause
  9. Assist the manufacturing plants in determining and implementing effective corrective action to prevent recurrence of valid complaints
  10. Initiate and monitor stock audits and / or product holds at distribution warehouses and manufacturing sites in order to prevent shipment of nonconforming product
  11. Enter and maintain Field Complaint System
  12. Provide product analysis and conclusions for legal situations, when necessary


Education & Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree in Applied Science, Engineering or related field 
  • 0 to 5 years’ experience in technical product evaluation /analysis, quality assurance or related experience in Electro-mechanical or Electronic products

Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have electronic, mechanical, or electrical troubleshooting skill
  • Must possess a working knowledge of instrumentation and wiring systems
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have the ability to work independently or as part of a team, handling multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Must have a familiarity with UL, CSA, IEC and government standards and test procedures a plus
  • Must have a general knowledge of household and industrial electrical devices and wiring in accordance with the National Electric Code
  • Must possess a knowledge of general machine shop work
  • Must have a familiarity with some of the following tests and equipment: Digital Multi Meter, Volt, Amp, Watt Meters, Oscilloscope, Temperature / Humidity Cabinet, and Thermocouples and temperature testing
