Job Description

This position is responsible for providing Manufacturing Engineering support and participating in continuous improvement projects to support Production, Development Engineering, and Product Management to ensure the timely production of quality, cost effective parts and assemblies. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Works with Document Control for the preparation of new BOM’s and ECN’s
  • Enters and maintains bill of material (BOM) and item master data
  • Maintains part number document number databases
  • Generate and implement Change Orders to existing documentation
  • Assists in the design and development of mechanical components, systems, and equipment using the corporate CAD system
  • Provide manufacturing support related to new product introduction and sustainability including, but not limited to: process development, cost reductions, product/process improvements, design and procurement of tooling and equipment, development of required documentation, assembly and operator training, process demonstration and product transition from development to production
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, UL, CSA, NOM, and NEMA requirements
  • Provide direct support to manufacturing design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of parts, assemblies, components, sub-assemblies, specification of metal and plastic raw materials, tooling and final products
  • Serve as a resource for production launch activities, from development of the design through stable production
  • Lead continuous improvement activities (supplier and internal) after stable production is achieved
  • Provide technical assistance, assists in implementing new techniques and procedures, and serves as a liaison for Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and other organizations
  • Develop assembly guides, procedures and illustrations for manufacturing personnel
  • Provide production floor and assembly support in technical matters relating to assembly drawings, interpretation, engineering change notices, and rework manufacturing processes
  • Perform Cost/Benefit analyses for new and improved products and/or processes
  • Contribute as a functional team member in Operations and interdepartmental teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Industrial/Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, required
  • Experience or internship in a manufacturing environment, preferred


Skills & Abilities

  • Must have the ability to work with CAD, Solid Works preferred
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulationsa
  • Must be able to draw and interpret graphs
  • Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, and the general public
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers to define specific product opportunities and associated key product requirements
  • Must have the ability to coordinate and facilitate discussions between Operations and/or Engineering and customers regarding product design
  • Must be able to gather input from production personnel and encourage a culture of teamwork through active listening and team implementation of process improvements
  • Must be able to  solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
  • Must have the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite for Windows on a personal computer; Oracle experience, preferred
  • Must be able to  work in a highly confidential work environment


Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.



  • This position may require travel of up to 5%
